About the Top Row leaderboard
The top row holds some of the most frequent letters in English — E, R, T, O and I among them — so the upward reach from the home row is one of the most repeated motions in all of typing. This board ranks how cleanly you execute it in isolation.
The common fault it exposes is the whole hand lifting to reach rather than the individual finger extending. That works fine at moderate speed and falls apart above it, because the hand has to travel back to the anchor before the next keystroke can be placed accurately. If your top row scores trail your home row scores by a wide margin, that is usually what is happening.

Top Row leaderboard FAQs
Why does the top row deserve its own drill?
Because it carries a disproportionate share of common English letters. E, R, T, O and I all live there, so any inefficiency in the upward reach is repeated constantly in ordinary typing.
What should a good top row technique feel like?
The finger extends while the rest of the hand stays anchored on the home row. If your palm rises or your whole hand shifts upward, the return trip is costing you time on every reach.
