Typing benchmark

Not just how fast. Why you aren't faster.

Type ordinary words for 60 seconds. Every keystroke is timed and checked, and the diagnosis shows the keys, letter pairs and pauses that hold your speed back. The words are the same mix every time, so you can take it again and compare.

What the benchmark measures

Per-key accuracy
How often each key is typed wrong when it's the one expected.
Letter-pair timing
Milliseconds between two keys inside a word — where your fingers hesitate.
Confusions
Which key you hit instead of the right one, and how often.
Word-start time
How long you take to begin each new word after the last one.
Fatigue
Your speed in the second half of the minute against the first.
Corrections & pauses
Backspaces and mid-word pauses longer than a second.

Then train it away

Set the WPM you want to reach and cap-i, the AI typing coach, builds practice rounds around your weak spots, and brings this benchmark back every 10 rounds to show how far you've come.

Questions

What is a typing benchmark?

A 60-second test on ordinary English words that measures how you type, not just how fast. Every keystroke is timed and checked, so the result shows which keys you miss, which letter pairs slow you down, how long you take to start each word, and whether you fade by the end of the minute.

How is it different from a typing test?

A typing test gives you a WPM score. The benchmark gives you the score and the reasons behind it. Its words are the same mix every time — half of them the most common English words, the rest everyday words, words with rare letters like q, z and x, and a few long ones — so two results are fair to compare.

Do I need an account?

No. The benchmark and its diagnosis run in your browser, free. A free account saves the result and gets you a training plan built from it by cap-i, the AI typing coach.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, but the timing analysis needs a physical keyboard: phone keyboards deliver glide-typed and autocorrected words all at once. On a phone the diagnosis leans on your misses and mix-ups instead of keystroke timings.

How often should I take it?

Whenever you like. If you train with cap-i, the AI typing coach, it brings the benchmark back as a checkpoint after every 10 rounds, at least a week apart, so your progress is always measured on the same test.
