Typing France
France is the significant outlier on this leaderboard: AZERTY is not a QWERTY variant but a genuinely different layout. A and Q are swapped, Z and W are swapped, M moves to the right of L, and the number row requires Shift for digits. A French typist posting a strong English WPM on AZERTY has done substantially more work than the same number on QWERTY represents.
The A/Q and Z/W swaps hit English hard, because A is one of the most frequent letters in the language and sits where QWERTY muscle memory expects Q. The Alphabet drill is the highest-value practice for AZERTY typists — it serves all 26 letters uniformly, so the swapped keys come up far more often than they would in ordinary prose and the correction sticks faster.
Country is detected from your browser's timezone and language settings rather than your IP address, so it reflects how your device is configured. You can set it explicitly on your account page if it has guessed wrong.

Is AZERTY slower than QWERTY for English?
For English text, generally yes. AZERTY swaps A with Q and Z with W, moves M beside L, and requires Shift for the number row — and A is among the most common letters in English. The rankings do not adjust for layout, so a strong AZERTY score on an English test represents more skill than the same score on QWERTY.
How is the France typing leaderboard ranked?
By words per minute, highest first, across every game mode and test length. It lists every game played rather than one row per player, so a player who has recorded several fast runs appears more than once. Narrow it with the mode, length and time-range controls above the table.
How do I get on the France leaderboard?
Just play. Every completed run is recorded automatically and your country is detected from your browser settings. Sign in first if you want your run to carry your username rather than appearing as anonymous.
